Import a college student roster from Excel or CSV
Placement software is only as good as the roster. Clean the sheet, import, validate rows, then group students for assessments and drives.
Every failed campus test has a roster story: duplicate emails, missing registration numbers, a branch spelling that created a fourth “CSE”. Import is not clerical. It is identity for the rest of the season.

Prepare the sheet before you upload
- One student per row
- Stable headers (name, email, registration number, department)
- Emails that will receive invites
- Department names that already exist in Campus
- No merged cells, no two header rows
- A unique identifier you will still have in March
If your registrar export uses different department titles than the placement cell, map them first. The importer cannot guess that “Computer Science” and “CSE” are the same faculty.
Validate immediately
After import:
- Count rows vs the source sheet
- Open a sample of profiles
- Fix failures rather than inviting a partial group
- Only then create groups for a mock or drive

How Edgeryt Campus uses the roster

Can we add students by hand?
Yes, for late joiners. Bulk import is for the cohort.
What if a student changes department?
Update the profile and group membership before the next invite. Do not run a second import that duplicates the email.
Can companies upload our roster into hiring tools?
A visiting employer should collect applicants on Edgeryt Hire, not take a copy of your registrar file unless you have a written process for that share.
